Before the press come their hands: every fruit is chosen, washed and sorted. On the sorting line, most of the green uniforms are worn by women.

Towards zero waste

The whole fruit goes to work.

Oil is only 10 to 18% of the fruit. The rest — pit, skin, pulp, water — becomes fuel, biogas and compost.

Green Processing Company runs the plant under the L’Avocat des Barundi brand. The chairman of its board also chairs the Association des Industriels du Burundi (AIB), the Burundi manufacturers’ association. Expansions are planned.
