Farmers and cooperatives
We buy your avocados. All sizes.
Green Processing Company buys Hass, Fuerte and local avocados for its plant in Ngagara, Bujumbura. Growers, associations and cooperatives are welcome. Oil does not ask for export-graded fruit: it asks for sound, ripe, weighed fruit.
The price
When growers organise, the price follows.
The farm-gate price of export fruit went from about USD 0.10 to 0.70 a kilo in one year, once growers grouped together (Associated Press, October 2024). The same fruit sells for USD 3 to 5 a kilo abroad. A plant in Bujumbura is one more buyer, all year, for all sizes — including those export rejects.

What we buy
Fruit condition
Whole, sound, clean fruit, free of soil and leaves. All sizes accepted. Ripe fruit gives more oil: a Hass’s flesh goes from 15% oil early in the season to 25% at maturity.
Volumes
From a sack to a truckload. Large volumes are planned in advance with cooperatives.

Weighing and recording
Every delivery is weighed and recorded by origin and variety. The lot number follows your fruit to the oil’s certificate.

Price and payment
The purchase price and payment terms are agreed before delivery and confirmed at weighing.
Cooperatives
The fruit goes up, the compost comes down.
GPC plans volumes with cooperatives, sets a collection calendar and sends compost back to the fields on the same trucks. Next, collection runs on electric motorcycles and tricycles, solar-charged every 30 km. Target: 70% Burundian raw material, and price and volume management agreed with cooperatives, government and the value-chain associations.
