One fruit, four products

The whole fruit is pressed. Everything else is recovered.

The oil goes to refiners and manufacturers. The cake goes to compost and livestock feed, the stones and dry residues to briquettes: composting is being set up, energy recovery is in preparation.

  1. Oil

    To refiners and manufacturers in food, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. Analyses on every lot.

  2. Compost

    Cake and skins composted with brewery spent grain and manure, then returned to growers’ fields.

  3. Livestock feed

    Dried, milled stone, up to 10% of pigs’ rations according to published trials; never for ruminants or poultry.

  4. Briquettes

    Dried, compacted stones, an alternative to charcoal for households and institutions.

The origin

A Burundian fruit.

The avocado tree grows on hills across the country, without irrigation: 3.2% of Burundi’s irrigation potential is developed, and 1,500 mm of rain falls in two seasons. GPC builds its supply channel with growers, associations and cooperatives, targeting 70% Burundian raw material.

Indicative: the Burundian press places the main harvest season from October to April (Iwacu, July 2024). GPC’s collection calendar is communicated each season.
